Staff

Two new staff members were appointed to begin in Term 2.

Sharon Odendaal is heading up Aftercare in Erna’s place. Sharon comes with lots of experience in managing Aftercare, and couldn’t wait to be back caring for children. It’s lovely to have her with us.

Uviwe Mabala is quickly learning all that goes with being an office admin assistant in Christine’s place. We welcome her and trust she will have a long and happy career as she helps grow the school.

Carmen Opperman graduated last term. Congratulations on achieving a second qualification Carmen. Linked to your experience, you are well equipped to give our Grade R’s a good start in learning.

On the first Saturday of the holidays a group of us travelled to the home of Minah Padi and said our goodbyes. It was a sad occasion and difficult to deal with the emotions of losing a staff member, colleague and friend.

Thank you for your generous donations for the family. We sent a cash amount to help with expenses, and bought the flowers that we placed on her coffin from parents and the school.

We also met Minah’s three children. Her daughter, Keabetswe, is due to have a baby very soon. Minah, as a really good granny–to–be was buying clothes and nappies each month. Now, without this support, this little grandson needs quite a few things. Should you have any of the things listed below, or if you would like to add extras to your shopping basket and then donate any of these items, you can drop them off at the school office. We will then make sure that these things get to the family. If anyone has a baby pram and car seat that you would like to donate – Keabetswe would be thrilled. Other items needed are:- warmer baby clothing, nappies, baby wipes, aqueous cream, cotton buds, baby shampoo, baby towels, baby blankets, a laundry basket, nappy bin, digital thermometer, Vaseline, breast pads.

Let’s keep praying for the family through this time of grieving and adjusting to life without Minah.

From the school side, we are not appointing anyone in Minah’s place just yet. Teacher Treasure and Teacher Rose-Mary are rotating through the Teddy class to strengthen the team.

During this holiday Teacher Megan married Bjorn Schoeman in a beautiful ceremony in KZN. Congratulations to both of you. May your lives together be lived in a way that brings honour to God.

Parent Evening

On 24 May there will be a Parent Evening with a difference. You will need to bring your cell phone to workshop on using the Principal Talk App.

There will be a few other important guests to explain why play therapy is important for children, as well as health tips for everyday living.

On the financial side, there will be a discussion on how school fees are used to ensure the school runs well.

This is a full and exciting term. We expect the learners to work hard and learn a lot!

Enjoy the long weekend up ahead and remember that school will be closed on the 27 April through to the 01 May. We will be back in teaching and learning mode on 02 May bright and early.

With warm regards
