NEWSLETTER # 7
There is a high level of activity in the office with reports being finalised, in the school with packing away and tidying up taking place before the start of holiday club, and with the learners tired, excited and out of the usual routines. I hope moms and dads are ready for the winter holidays!
One delightful opportunity to channel energy and learn a lot about games, God and life, is to send your child/children who are in the Grade R to Grade 7 age group to Holiday Club. Please feel free to invite friends, neighbours and cousins. Eastside Community Church prepares to have between 400 and 600 children involved. Teams and team leaders are already moving in today for training. Pre register online www.eastside.org.za or on Monday morning.
Safety & Security
Although we changed the entry gate code to ensure safety and security, there are several parents who have given the code to a child. This is a serious breach of the system, as young learners do not think of safety – so they will open the gate and our younger children could run out of the grounds without supervision. Please request that drivers open the gate using the code to ensure your child gets safely to the classroom rather than tell a child which numbers to push while they sit in the car. Lastly, if you do come into the school gate and allow a person in who you don’t recognise, please walk with them to the office, handing them over to a staff member rather than allowing them to walk around on their own. We have to ensure the safety of learners AT ALL TIMES.
A BIG thank you to the learners and their parents alike for their efforts to sell tickets. An amount of R9510.00 was raised. Congratulations to the winners:-
- Cameron Schmidt who won the photo book sponsored by Jetline Brooklyn (ticket sold in the Bunny class);
- Beverley Kieswetter who won the hamper sponsored by Placecol (ticket sold in the Teddy class);
- Drushti Bhagwan learner in the Lion class who sold the most tickets;
- The Lion class who sold the most tickets. Well done Teacher Tanya!
School closes on Friday at 12h00. Aftercare will be as usual although we do request that if at all possible learners are collected a little earlier as all equipment would need to be locked away. The office will be closed for the holiday. Any financial queries can be made through Nicola Litchfield at the Finance Office 012 9982877. School reopens on Monday 18 July.
The Board and Staff wish you a happy and warm holiday, with a good use of the many opportunities to spend time together as a family. As we think of the character trait of kindness that ends the series for this term, look for opportunities to express kindness to people you know, as well as strangers.
And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you (Ephesians 4:32). If you are travelling, drive carefully. Take care.
